Philip Carver
I was born in 1950 and was educated at Oakham School in
Rutland from
1963 to 1967.
I became a Christian in March 1966 through attending boys’ holidays run
under the auspices of what was then the Africa Evangelical Fellowship
(formerly South Africa General Mission and now part of SIM).
I trained as a Chartered Accountant, qualifying with Price Waterhouse
in 1973.
After 25 years in business I joined the Diocese of Leicester in 1998 as
Financial Secretary and in 2002 also took on the same role with the
Diocese of Coventry.
I retired in Autumn 2008 and then worked for a couple of years
part-time as a self-employed Financial Management Consultant before
retiring ‘full-time’ in 2010.
I have served twice as President of the Leicestershire and
Northamptonshire Society of Chartered Accountants.
In 1974 I married Heather and we live in South Leicestershire. We have
3 grown-up children (John, Christopher and Elizabeth) and 2
grandchildren (Poppy and Willow).
We worship at Holy Trinity, Leicester and I am on the PCC as well as
leading Trinity Money Advice Leicester, the church’s recently
inaugurated debt advice centre.
I am trustee of a number of other charities.
Pastimes include gardening, music (classical), reading (especially
biography, travel and history), current affairs and, other than
actually playing golf, ‘arm-chair’ sport.
