Lord of our Harvest

This week Revd Steph Warrell, associate minister at Telford Minster, reflects on the theme of harvest – and how for the Christian it is not just an annual agricultural event, but a daily experience of the goodness of God. Reflecting on Matthew 9:35-38, Steph considers God’s provision for us, and his blessing for others. And so while in many churches we celebrate harvest once each year, we can experience the goodness of harvest every day in our walk with God.

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” — Matthew 9:35-38

“Harvest isn’t something we experience once a year, but something we experience on a daily basis”

"When we put God in his rightful place, we recognise him as the lord of our harvest.. he is the one who supplies what we need."

"Working with Kevin has been a huge success in terms of my development as a leader. Our time together has helped me to take a longer-term view of my ministry and make good decisions which we are still benefitting from. I have particularly valued Kevin’s willingness to speak openly and prophetically into the situations I have been wrestling with. His insights have often helped me see further than I could do on my own, and have always been wise, kind and gracious. I cannot recommend highly enough the work that ReSource does and in particular, the new Alongside ministry"
