A letter from the Director
Dear ReSource friends
I am writing as the current crisis continues, to explain how we are adjusting here at ReSource to the challenges and opportunities we face in these unprecedented times. I am also circulating our Prayer Diary for May and June, along with a new explanatory leaflet about ReSource’s ministry, which I hope that you will enjoy using and reading. Please feel able to share them with others too.
Inevitably, we have had to adjust our schedule and our financial planning in the current crisis, as I shall explain. We are, though, doing all that we can to maintain our ministry, and to prepare for a future in which our work will be needed more than ever. I have recently written to church leaders in our network to offer them the personal support of a ReSource companion as a friend-alongside as they guide their churches through these uncharted waters, and also to offer the services of our intercessors.
We have also started a weekly Blog on our website (do take a look if you can), and are preparing web-based materials relevant to the current crisis and for churches to use in what I think will be a period of great opportunity for us in the changed landscape of a post-covid-19 world. The next Newsletter will have some reflection pieces from a range of guest contributors and will feature a new resource that we are writing to help churches process their experiences during the pandemic and to reflect on both the losses and the gains.
The crisis has, though, put strains on our limited financial resources and we have had to make some prudent cuts in our budget for the rest of the year. Sadly, this has meant reducing the working hours of some on our team and postponing our plans to appoint new staff later in the year.
God has been faithful to ReSource’s finances through the years, and our supporter network has been wonderfully generous, but as stewards of very small reserves we have had to curtail some of our immediate growth plans until the way ahead becomes clearer.
We continue, though, to be entirely committed to the work of ReSource as a ministry serving churches and church leaders for renewal, discipleship, and mission in the power of the Holy Spirit. This pause in our events ministry has slowed down the momentum that was building, but it has not diminished our vision or enthusiasm for the work to which God has called us.
It has also given us space and opportunity to serve in new ways and to prepare well for ministry in what I suspect will be the very different context of a post-covid-19 world.
Thank you for being with us on the journey and thank you for your prayers. Indeed, please be assured of our prayers for you in whatever these days hold for you.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”
With love and prayer,
The Ven. Kevin Roberts
Director of ReSource
