Get to know Jerry Marshall

Jerry identifies his calling as a Kingdom Entrepreneur, working alongside others in response to God’s call to turn vision to reality, whether church planting, social enterprise or for-profit businesses.

He came to faith shortly after graduating in Economics from Cambridge. After several business roles and training in marketing, he set up a marketing strategy consultancy. This became a platform for a social enterprise in inner city Coventry and a for-profit technology company. After selling the latter, he led Transformational Business Network, a network for Christian business people using enterprise to fight poverty in developing countries. He also Chaired a group of 70 organisations opposed to HS2 high speed rail, appearing regularly in national and regional media.

A particular call has been to stand alongside Christians in the Bethlehem area and he has spent more than 20 years working with Palestinian businesses. In 2012 he co-founded Transcend, an IT and outsourcing business aiming to create jobs, skills, and “invisible” exports unaffected by movement restrictions, using business to transcend the divide. He continues to Chair Transcend, which has over 120 staff working for Palestinian, Israeli and international businesses.

Between 2012 and 2018 he was CEO of Germinate: The Arthur Rank Centre, the churches’ rural resource centre, helping establish a regular conference, ‘listening event’, learning communities, leadership training and a Cinnamon Network recognised business start-up programme that churches can deliver.

He co-founded and for 25 years helped lead a church plant in his village near Coventry before moving to Cheshire, where he has several roles at St Marys Ecumenical Church in Weaverham. He is married to Sue and has three grown up daughters.
